Process:
Gather your materials in a quiet space where you will not be interrupted. Ground yourself and write down your intentions prior to beginning the spell. It’s good to go into the spell really clear about your purpose.
Cast your circle, focusing on welcoming new beginnings and releasing negativity.
Light the candle and repeat your intention three times aloud with conviction.
Mix your salt and herbs slowly in the bowl with your fingertips, silently repeating your intention over and over to yourself as you mix.
On the bay leaves write one thing you wish to release in the new year. Anything you’d like to leave behind and move on from. Try to limit yourself to no more than three things. Or focus on one thing and write it three times. As you write, picture yourself releasing these negative things and them dancing away from you allowing space within you for light, positivity, and change. Set each leaf aside to dry before burying it in the bowl of salt and herbs.
Move your lighted candle to sit in the bowl on the salt with the leaves buried beneath. Add the carnelian stone.
Release your circle by stating your intention aloud once more into your cupped hands and forcefully blowing it away from you, into the universe and blowing out the candle with the same breath..
Set the bowl and candle in a prominent place for the next three days. Light the candle for at least 15 minutes each of those days as a reminder not to fall into old habits.
After the three days are up, sprinkle the salt and herb mixture around your property line. B hurry the bay leaves. Reuse the candle if any is left. I like to use a tea light and burn the entire thing in the three days.
