Sun Power: The Magick of Solar Witchcraft

I have always found solace and power in the energy of the sun. That's why I believe that incorporating solar witchcraft into your practice can bring a unique and powerful energy to your spells and rituals.

In solar witchcraft, the sun is often associated with the element of fire and the masculine energy of the god. This makes it a great way to tap into the power of manifestation and transformation. Solar spells and rituals are best performed during the day, and there are many ways to incorporate the energy of the sun into your craft. For example, you can charge crystals in the sun, cast circles in open fields, or utilize sun salutations for energy work.

One of my favorite solar rituals is the "drawing down of the sun," where a witch will go out at noon and call upon the power of the sun to empower her spellwork. In a coven this ritual is often led by the High Priest or High Priestess and involves the use of invocations, chants and the raising of energy through movement, but you can adjust it for the solitary practitioner. It's a powerful way to connect with the divine masculine and bring about transformative change.

Solar witchcraft also involves the use of herbs and crystals that are associated with the sun, such as calendula, heliotrope, and citrine. These can be used in spellwork, carried as talismans, or added to potions and oils. It's important to remember that the sun can be powerful and dangerous if not respected. Sunburn and sunstroke are real dangers, so it's important to take precautions and be mindful of your time spent in the sun.

Solar symbols: Incorporating solar symbols such as the sun, the sun's rays, or the wheel of the year into ritual objects or decorations can help to connect with solar energy.

Sun salutations: Incorporating a yoga practice of sun salutations, a sequence of poses performed in a specific order, can help to connect with solar energy and bring physical movement into your solar magick practice.
