If you are planning to use an object in a spell or ritual, you may wish to better understand what sort of energy that object processes first. Objects tend to pick up energy as they are handled, stored, and transported.
Energy Reading Ritual
First place the object in front of you, resting your left hand over the object and your right hand on your tarot deck. Close your eyes, breathing deeply. Imagine the energy of the object flowing from your left hand to your right hand and down into the deck of tarot cards.
Next shuffle the tarot deck and draw a card. The card drawn will reflect the energy of the object. For example, if you pull a pentacles card, the object is well suited to money magick. Be warned though, do not over generalize the card drawn. In the same example, the Five of Pentacles, representing poverty and lack, would make the object terrible for money magick.
Keep in mind that objects can be cleansed and recharged, it just takes a bit more time and energy. So if you don’t like what the cards are showing you about the object, set it aside to cleanse under the moon, with smoke, or within a crystal grid and move on or preform a cleansing and charging ritual found below.
Cleansing and Charging Ritual
Here is how to cleanse and charge objects using tarot cards:
Choose two cards from your tarot deck - one with which to cleanse the item and the other to change your magical object with your desired intention. Effective cards for cleansing include almost anything from the cups suit, The Fool, The Star, and Temperance.
Place the cleansing card under or against your magical object. Leave the card and object together overnight. Consider using a selenite charging plate for your object and card to sit on. Selenite naturally cleanses, charges, reactivates and amplifies magick.
Replace the cleansing card with a charging card from your deck. Any card that supports your magical intentions will work. Leave the card there overnight. You can meditate with the object and card, visualizing the transference of energy, to help speed up the process.
When cleansing and charging magical objects it’s best not to rush the process. Allow time for the energies to shift. If so desired add in crystals or moon magick to help the process along.
